Driver Requirements
  • Be professional in appearance
We do have a dress code, which will be addressed at orientation.
  • Age Requirement
Horizon Transport's independent contractor drivers must be at least 23 years of age.

  • *Not all states offer a “for-hire” endorsement, also referred to as a Chauffer’s License.  For drivers from states that do not offer this endorsement, an operator’s license is acceptable.  (Indiana, Michigan and Tennessee are examples of states that do offer this endorsement.)
  • Earn significantly more money delivering to Canada.
    Canadian access recommended (not required)
Deliveries to Canada currently pay as much as 20 additional cents per mile more than domestic delivery rates.

Trailer Hook Up with Distribution Bars
Safety is No 1 at Horizon Transport. Please watch the instructional video below on how to hook up the travel trailer safely.
  • You must submit a copy of your vehicle registration
  • Truck model must be no more then 5 years old
Horizon requires trucks to be no more then 5 years old and no smaller than 3/4 ton. This means you may come aboard with a 5 years old truck or newer, model truck and you may continue to use that truck as long as it is safe, reliable, and presentable. Trucks older than 5 years are considered on a case-by-case basis. If you have a truck older than 5 years, please contact our recruiting department for additional information.
  • Truck must be owned
If your truck is under a lease we will not process your application.
  • Truck License Plate
The truck's license plate must be sufficient to legalize a combination of truck and trailer up to 26,000 lbs. Horizon recommends the equivalent of an Indiana 26,000 lbs truck plate, but NO MORE than 26,000 lbs.

How do I outfit my truck with all the required equipment?
Horizon Transport sits in the epicenter of the RV production world. This means there are many qualified vendors in our area prepared to help you with your equipment needs. These vendors outfit many trucks in our industry. Please shop the following vendors for pricing and service. You may outfit your truck wherever you would like, but we offer you these vendor options as a choice for you.

Tow-Away Service encompasses the commercial transportation of towable vehicles (i.e. trailers). Tow-Away contractors own and operate their own "power unit". In the Recreational Vehicle Transport sector, a dual rear wheel (dually) pick-up truck is typically the power unit of choice.

Flatbed Service encompasses the commercial use of a truck and trailer designed to carry one or more vehicles, like smaller RV Trailers. It also encompasses the use of trucks which are designed to haul one trailer and tow another.
